Artist's Description
Mutton Bird Island is where, on the 1st June 1878, a sailing clipper from England, grounded on the island in the morning mists. This was the Loch Ard and only two of 54 passengers survived. The ill-fated ship has lent its name to the dramatic gorge in the orange coloured cliffs. Also in the Port Campbell National Park are the famous Twelve Apostles, a series of sandstone pinnacles. This is the Shipwreck Coast of southern Victoria. Oil painting by Dai Wynn on linen on board. 30.5 cm high by 40.6 cm wide by 0.3 cm deep approximately.
